A Bird's Eye View Of The History Of CHS

Christian High School was founded by German Basel Missionaries. Service to mankind was the motto of German Basel Missionaries and this is one of the contributions of German Missionaries to CHS.

This institution was founded in the year 1898 with 36 students and 8 teachers. By the year 1907, the student strength went up to 267. In the year 1909, the school was given permanent recognition by the Education Department.

Late. Rev. A Brash was the first manager of the school and Late. M Venkatesh Prabhu was the first H.M of the school. From 1918 to 1935 during the tenure of Late S E Salis as the H.M, new classrooms were constructed as the student strength rose up to 605 with 24 teachers. After his retirement Rev. Mark Sanjeeva Rao became the H.M and served until 1938. During the tenure of Late S.J. Kaundinya between the years 1938 and 1942 there was significant development in the administration of the school. Golden jubilee celebration was held in a grand manner during the period of Late A.S Carot who was considered as the pioneer in the all round development of the school.
