Christian High School was founded by German Basel Missionaries. Service to mankind was the
motto of German Basel Missionaries and this is one of the contributions of German
Missionaries to CHS.
This institution was founded in the year 1898 with 36 students and 8
teachers. By the year 1907, the student strength went up to 267. In the year 1909, the
school was given permanent recognition by the Education Department.
Late. Rev. A Brash was the first manager of the school and Late. M Venkatesh Prabhu was the
first H.M of the school. From 1918 to 1935 during the tenure of Late S E Salis as the H.M,
new classrooms were constructed as the student strength rose up to 605 with 24 teachers.
After his retirement Rev. Mark Sanjeeva Rao became the H.M and served until 1938. During
the tenure of Late S.J. Kaundinya between the years 1938 and 1942 there was significant
development in the administration of the school. Golden jubilee celebration was held in a
grand manner during the period of Late A.S Carot who was considered as the pioneer in the
all round development of the school.
Secretarial and Engineering courses were started for providing industrial training for the
students during the tenure of Late S.N Mathias between 1949 and 1957. A lot of progress was
achieved in the field of sports during the tenure of Late A Joshua as the H.M during 1957
and 1964.
Late L.B Amanna took charge as the H.M in 1964, much progress was achieved during this
period. Open air stage and Kavi Muddanna Mandira were built. The Platinum Jubilee was
celebrated in a grand manner. He started English medium classes from 1st standard to 7th
standard
in the school. Platinum Jubilee hall was constructed on the top of Muddanna Mandira. Post
that
Late S.R. Chambers took charge as the H.M from 1974 to 1976.
Next H.M was Late W.A Karkada, the school achieved great progress during
this time. Students started securing ranks in the SSLC examination. One of our student
secured second rank in the SSLC public exam during this period. Between 1995 and 1997 Sri
E.D Sadananda served as the H.M.
In the year 1997, Sri M V Kumar took charge as the H.M of the school. He increased the
prestige of the school. Computer education was introduced. School secured 6th rank during
this time. In 2003 late K R Daya Rao served as the H.M for one year. Sri Vijay Kumar who
served as the H.M of the school arranged free school bus for the benefit of the
students.
In 2007 Helen V Salins took charge as the H.M. She was the first lady H.M of the school. She
founded an old student's association and got renovation work done by old students
themselves. The association co-operated with the school by contributing generously for the
tuition fees of the deserving students, free note books, school bags, umbrellas etc. At
present, Mrs. Rekha K.M. is serving as the incharge H.M of the school. Susheel Bangera and
Stephen V Kumar have served as the correspondent of the school. All the teaching staff have
been serving the institution with dedication from the inception.
At present Sri Vincent Palana has been serving as the treasurer, Sri Moses Jayasekhar as
secretary of the school management. From the beginning all the bishops have supported the
management and the institution in a splendid way.
